Area Soda Company Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Today the Shinola Cola Company celebrated it's tenth anniversary.  "So many people said that we would never make it.  It's been 10 years now and we are still going strong.", says the company president Randy Shinola.

Randy learned the soda business from the ground up after he married high school sweetheart Lotta Schitt.  Lotta's father, Major Boulregard "Bull" Schitt, was the owner of the regions best selling soda.  In 1925 the Major passed away leaving Schitt Soda to his son Dee P. Schitt.

When the stock market crashed in 1929, Dee committed suicide making Lotta the heiress to the Schitt family fortune.  Randy was made CEO until the divorce scandal in 1945.

In 1945 Randy filed for divorce when he found that Lotta had been involved in a long affair with local IRS agent Alex Weezell.

During the court appearance Randy asked only for the bottling plant but Lotta's attorney, James Sharkey, turned the tables.  When the smoke had cleared Randy found that he didn't get Schitt.  With many smelling a payoff Randy Shinola was left penniless.

Randy's brother Tom, who had also worked for the Schitt family stepped in and, together, they started a new business doing what they knew best.  "It was only natural since we had done it all of our lives.  We knew that business like the back of our hands.  I mean we really knew our Schitt.", said Tom Shinola

Now, 10 years later, Shinola Cola is one of the best selling soft drinks in the state.  Tom commented, "We are outselling 'Those Guys' in most markets.  People have been picking us almost 3 to 1 in our recent taste test."  The company's "See if you can tell Schitt from Shinola" taste test has been very successful and has left the brothers feeling very confident about the companies future.

Randy said, "This is just the beginning.  We have forced the competition to come out with new products.  I don't care if it is a new line of Schitt.  They have tried it before and it always just the same old Schitt.  We will continue to do what we do best...bottling the best soft drink in the world."
