Jan-June 2007
It's been a hectic 6 months. Needless to say I haven't gotten as
much into the blog as I had hoped. I've been pretty busy getting TML
Models off the ground and that's taken up the lion's share of my time. I'm
getting used to the software now and I'm able to layout a design pretty
fast. We've been coming up with all kinds of things to cut out on the
laser and it's been a lot of fun. You can see some of the results of this
at TML Models as well as
the 2007 LSR Contest Results page.
The best thing of all was that in March I finally had my judging for Civil
and Electrical on the layout. While it wasn't perfect it was good enough
to merit and with that I earned Master Model Railroader #391. This was
something I had thought about since 1984 and had been working on since
1999. To top it off was we Dad and I found out that we were the first Father
and Son to earn this in the 45 year history of the Achievement
Program. A lot of people taught me a lot over the years and the list of
those to thank is huge. My Dad tops that list of giving me the love of
modeling and trains. He let me work on it when I wanted to and didn't push
me into anything I wasn't interested in doing (He and Mom were both good about
that with everything in my life). A special thanks to all the clinicians
I've seen over the years. I've learned a little something from all of you
and it's helped me to get here. To my friends in the hobby who have been
gracious with their time, teaching and just plain cheerleading along the
way. Thanks a million.
As for the layout. It hasn't seen much action since the judging
finished. I'm planning a small redesign to what's out there. I hope
to get back to work on it soon. For right now, I'm taking a bit of a
breather from finishing that off and getting the contest models ready for this
years convention. I'm already in the planning stages for next years
entries. Maybe with some more time I'll do a little better next year.
